Time are not just changing, times have changed.
We are continuing to see a movement from traditional medias (TV, newspaper, magazines) to new medias (internet, social medias). The online advertising industry in Canada is now a billion and a half dollar industry. No wonder newspapers are struggling to get advertisers.
As more and more companies buy into online advertising, strategy becomes even more important. Ok, I'm on the internet, now what...I'm advertising on Google, we have a Facebook account, we have a Twitter account, we blog etc... Now, how do companies differentiate a great social media campaign from one that just exists?
The answer lies in engagement. Social media is all about letting the users do the talking - give them the tools and the message and let them run with it. Krystal restaurants recently launched a social media campaign on Twitter and Facebook. It will be interesting to see how it evolves over the next few months:
What Krystal is doing right is engaging their target audience in the places where they are spending their time. Furthermore, with an engaging strategy that allows users to search on all their social networking sites and pass coupons to fellow consumers, Krystal is setting itself up for success.
Is it a slam dunk? Only time will tell.
